Gemma joined Barretts as a Partner and Head of Litigation in February 2024, and brings with her a wealth of experience. A skilled civil litigation and dispute resolution lawyer, Gemma was admitted as a solicitor in 2013, and has headed up Litigation teams at several regional firms since qualification. Gemma is committed to developing a relationship with clients based on mutual trust and transparency, and prides herself on her attention to detail and practical problem-solving skills. Gemma advises on a variety of Litigation matters including: Residential and Commercial Possession proceedings; Landlord and Tenant disputes (including Rent Arrears claims); Property Disrepair claims; Co-ownership disputes; Boundary disputes; Building disputes; Forfeiture proceedings; Contractual disputes; and Debt Recovery and enforcement.

Gemma understands the importance for clients of exploring settlement at an early stage, and is experienced in organising and attending mediations and settlement discussions across all manner of claims. She works with her clients to resolve disputes in a sensitive and professional manner.

At home, Gemma prioritises quality time with family and most enjoys spending time with her stepdaughter and young nieces and nephews. Gemma loves meeting up with friends over good food and wine. Down time for Gemma nearly always involves a good book on her Kindle.
